Islanders Cool Glacier Kings Early
Keegan Young and Travis Peters assisted Mike Posey in giving the Islanders an early lead over the Comox Glacier Kings with just 21 seconds gone in the game. Throughout the first period the islanders held Comox at bay and fought off several power plays. Although the Islanders put in a strong effort, Comox held them even for the remainder of the period.
The second period was action packed. Marshall pushed Kerry Parks lead up by another goal early in the second when he found the net on a power play off of a set up by Balone and Grant. The Islanders defenders beat back Comox attempts to catch up, and just before the halfway mark in the period Travis Peters scored again for the Islanders. Less than a minute later Jordan Grant followed this up with a goal of his own, walking through the entire Comox team and deking out the goalie. Former Islander Kyle Peck scored the Glacier King’s first goal of the night a few minutes later, but the Islanders weren’t ready to relinquish the control with Kevin Shillito adding another tally before the period end.
Shillito opened the scoring in the third with his second goal of the night. Comox managed their second and final goal of the night when the puck bounced off Keifer Smiley’s glove and over his shoulder into the net. At the twelve minute mark, Brady Macdowell took a point shot from the blue line and slipped it over the opposing goalie’s glove. Brady scored another goal a mere two minutes later to drive the Islanders lead higher. To finish the night for the Islanders, Marshal scored with 5:24 left in the game finishing the night with three goals and an assist. The Islanders are yet to lose on home ice this season, and remain in first place on the league charts.

Islanders Suffer First Loss of Season
The Kerry Park Islanders suffered their first defeat of the season Friday night in Peninsula, going down to the host team 5-4 in OT. The Islanders went in with a perfect 10-0 record and looked to build on that, but someone forgot to mention that to the Panthers who took a 2-0 lead after the first period. The Islanders started a comeback in the 2nd on a shorthanded marker by Keegan Young and in the 3rd period fought back to tie the game. Then on a deflection shot by Matt Oliphant with about 8 minutes to go, the Isles were in the lead. After that it was a parade to the penalty box for the Islanders providing the Panthers wth a number of 5 on 3 opportunities. The Panthers took advantge and tied the game sending the match into OT. As was the case for the end of regulation, the Islanders started the extra frame down two men and it didn't take the home team long to beat the Isles rookie standout Kiefer Smiley and send the Panthers pouring off of the bench.
