Islanders Battle Storm

After two hard nights at other rinks, the Islanders returned to home ice to play against Campbell River. The Storm scored first, just 35 seconds into the game. The game went back and forth for the next 10 minutes as both teams worked to score. Just after the midway point of the period, Botcher scored on a point shot during a delayed penalty against Campbell River. A little over a minute later Kevin Shillito also added a goal and the Islanders took the lead. As the period drew to a close Campbell River scored twice, but the Islanders tied the game up with 0.01 on the clock to end the period 3-3.

The second period started with each team striving to gain control. At one point the Campbell River goalie rushed a player to the puck, and missed, causing a Storm player to have to block the net to prevent the Islanders from scoring. The Islanders worked hard to put another goal into the Campbell River net. Finally just after the halfway mark of the period Wayne Twan broke through their defenses and scored for the Islanders. The period ended with Kerry Park leading 4-3.

Under a minute into the third Wayne Twan scored another tally for the Islanders, getting a hat trick. The Storm responded with a goal one minute later, but Kerry Park held onto the lead and went on to win the game 5-4 despite some penalties towards the end of the period.
