Islanders Islanders Explode Against Stingers

On Remembrance Day the Islanders played against the Sooke Stingers. Kerry Park opened the game strong and didn’t relinquish their control. Within the first 2 minutes, they had scored twice with Keegan Young getting the opening goal of the game. Sooke’s first shot on net at 15:41 resulted in their only goal of the period. At the end of the first period the Islanders were leading 5-1, with Steacy, Balone, Marshall, and Bertuzzie scoring for the Islanders.

The second period was a shooting gallery for Kerry Park players, as they continued to rack up goals. The Islanders scored 4 more goals before Sooke changed their goalie. The new Sooke goalie preformed very well in the circumstances, but the Islanders got two more goals before the period finished. The Wasps scored their second in the last minute of the period, making little impact against the Isle’s commanding 11-2 lead.

Kerry Park opened the third with three more goals in the first 10 minutes. Sooke then struck back with 2 goals in 2 minutes, and remained competitive for the remainder of the game. Both the Islanders and the Stingers traded a goal apiece after this, and then Kerry Park finished the game with a goal in the last 6 seconds. Kerry Park worked well as a team throughout the entire game, and this shows in the 15-5 victory. Both Marshall and Nugent got hat tricks in the game.
