Islander Points Production Slows

The Islanders finished a tough week ending with one win and two losses in their three games.  The team produced their lowest point totals for a weekend series in 2 years and the Islanders can thank their lack of discipline for that.

On Thursday the Islanders traveled to Victoria to face the Cougars in what was supposed to be the must see game of the young season. That may be true if you are a Cougars fan, but the Islanders found out that the Cougar power play is ranked number one in the league for a reason as they took the Islanders undisciplined team to school by scoring all of their goals on the power play in a 5-2 win.  The first period saw the Islanders take a 2-1 lead and go into the 2nd period confident. In the second period the Islanders took penalty after penalty giving the Cougars ample time to flex their power play muscle and build the commanding lead that they would never give up.

On Saturday, the Islanders faced the Oceanside Generals and played their own game of power play kings scoring 5 goals with the extra man on their way to a 5-3 home ice win.  The Islanders had 5 different goal scorers while Mike Posey had three assists.

On Sunday, the Islanders traveled to Oceanside and faced a very hungry Generals team on home ice.  Kerry Park enjoyed a good first period, but as has been the case to many times this season, the second period proved to be a dud for the Islanders.  The boys in blue were at times running around looking like they were being lead by a leash and went into the intermission down 4-1.  In the third, the Islanders showed some heart and clawed back to make it interesting, but fell short losing to the Gens 5-4.

The Kerry Park Islanders Hockey Team would like to extend a a very big thank you to all their sponsors who supported the team through the 2005-06 season.

None of the team's success was possible without your generous support!
