Islanders Get Back
on Track

The Islanders faced off against Campbell River on Saturday. The Islanders went into the game desperate for a win to bring them back from recent losses they have suffered. Determined to gain victory, the Islanders didn’t disappoint the fans as just 3 minutes into the game Adrian Jack tipped the puck into the net past the Storm’s goalie on a power play. Campbell River responded back just a few minutes later as their player slid right into the Islander net, resulting in a goal. Not at all disheartened by this, Kerry Park came back and scored their second goal just 30 seconds later. The play remained fast for the rest of the period and the Islanders goalie made a huge save against a Storm breakaway in the dying seconds of the period.

The second period opened with the Islanders defense pressed hard by Campbell River. They managed to score two goals against the Islanders before Jordan Grant slid through the Storm defenses and put Kerry Park back in the lead. The Islanders had regained the lead and worked to preserve it from Campbell River offensives. As the buzzer blew, the second period ended with Kerry Park leading 4-3.

The third period started fast with both teams struggling to improve upon their current positions. The play steadily got more physical as the period progressed, but the Islanders managed to improve their lead with a goal early in the period. Campbell River looked far from beaten and managed to bring the score to within one yet again just before the halfway mark in the period. The Islanders defense shut down the now desperate Campbell River attempts to score and Trevor Greco got an unassisted empty net goal in the last minute of the game to consolidate the Islanders victory.
